right now the sky is an orange, orange-red blanket that smells of cooking. in some places its a darker orange than in others. i looked to the east just now and noticed a kind of lightening or a brightening from somewhere high up. it may be something in nature struggling to peak through, like that great big gaseous ball of sun. it may also be that white smoke that happens after water has been dumped on flames..? i don't know.
the cars, the asphalt streets, the people are awash in ash. "if rain is god and the angels spitting on us.. is this god and the saints on a smoke break? i would really like to have breakfast. i would really like to have breakfast out in the world. out in the world of people--
THIS JUST IN: the sky has gone much lighter starting from the east and working its way west. i can see it happening overhead. the trees are still but could it be that the wind shifted? or could it be relief from some other source. the whole thing is considerably less oppressive than it was not three minutes ago. this is an exciting new development. i'm going to check the news..... [*goes to check the news*]
ok. i'm back. i'm back only to discover that my signal went out but luckily i'm still able to type on this page. and ok, i'm back and i the news people reported that some of the fire in the east, possibly in alpine was/is momentarily out. there is thick white smoke that's starting to lift a little. they showed some footage of the closed 8East ..maybe near the viejas area. so.. hmm. they're still saying don't get your hopes up because the wind could change again and pick things up and send them out.. again and still. for now, though, they say the current is moving in a north and north-westerly direction. well ok so good. because if worse comes to worse and the more west it moves there is eventually going to be that natural break. i.e. the bay and then also just the (north) pacific ocean! yea.. hmm. come to think of it i don't think its really all that optomistic to think of it in those terms.. afterall it would have to burn through a good hunk of the city before reaching relief in the bay and/or the ocean for cryin out loud. so yea. i'm all fucked up.
meanwhile. lot's of houses turned into.. well, turned into really nothing. just poof. turned into ash, turned into the stuff at the end of the broom, sweep sweep. nothin.
in the air: johnny cash -> the ring of fire [and obviously a lot of friggin ash and debris and smoke. atmosphere you can slice up with a steak knife]
fillins: hunger.
thoughts: is dancing to music right now inappropriate? if so, how inappropriate?
